Our tradition of caring for others, for over a century, is rooted in the compassion and servant leadership taught us by foundress Mother Mary Theresa Dudzik. Her legacy lives on with our sponsor, the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, and the associates who serve at Franciscan Ministries, and the thousands of families entrusted to us.
Founded by four visionary couples with strong ties to Purdue University, University Place is the epitome of retirement living redefined. The seeds of this vibrant community were sown in the mid-90s as these couples contemplated a new ideal for their retirement years. The dream was to create a living space free from the burdens of maintaining homes and unnecessary belongings and instead focus on simplicity, wellness and an enriched lifestyle.
University Place soon became a reality, opening its doors in May 2003. It’s clear mandate was to be a resident-led community that promotes wellness, intellectual growth, cultural enrichment, social activities and spiritual growth in close proximity to Purdue. Franciscan Ministries embodies this with their mission of Living Joyfully and celebrating each day with appreciation.
