Giving Back
While we are living in uncertain times, there is still light. Read more about some inspirational stories of giving from our ministries so you may see the impact of their generosity.
Franciscan Ministries, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, takes a very thoughtful approach to meeting the needs of those we serve. We recognize that every gift comes from God, and we are committed to being good stewards of the things entrusted to us. Philanthropy is a deeply personal choice based on individual passions, interests, and experiences. Franciscan Ministries makes it easy for donors to connect with our work, ensuring their gifts are both impactful and effortless, so they can relish and share the feeling of living joyfully.
Senior Ministry developed as a way for Franciscan Community residents and families to celebrate their love, generosity and faith by participating in charitable giving. These contributions enhance the resident experience through life enrichment programs, increased amenities, community expansion projects, the purchase of new items, and/or the implementation of unique programs. It also helps support current residents who outlived their retirement investments and are experiencing financial need.
The Madonna Foundation was designed to increase access to all-girl Catholic high schools in the Chicago area for those who could not otherwise afford to attend. Today, it provides financial scholarships, tutoring, and a variety of enrichment opportunities for the students they serve. Through charitable contributions we help the girls build meaningful, productive, and successful lives for themselves, while preparing them to become future leaders.
St. Jude House is a family violence prevention center and shelter in Crown Point, Indiana. It offers emergency refuge and compassionate services for domestic violence victims and their children. Survivors develop inner strength and skills for becoming independent and breaking the cycle of violence.
First Look for Charity Franciscan Community Benefit Services is one of 18 charities chosen by the Chicago Auto Trade Association to benefit from First Look for Charity – a black tie, sneak preview of the Chicago Auto Show, which pampers its guests with elegance not present during the public portion of the show. Be among the first to see hundreds of new cars and trucks – some on display for the first time anywhere – and enjoy world class hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
Our Mission is to Celebrate Life and Serve with Joy. Your contribution will help ensure that we can continue to serve others through our unmatched care and services.

"The friendliness of all the residents and staff. . . the "Good Mornings" and "Good Afternoons" said with a smile. That truly makes my day."

"Mt. Alverna has such a friendly and caring personality and atmosphere. The skilled care helped me achieve independence and regain strength. Even the social activities reinforce physical therapy. I am blessed to have been able to rehab at this facility this past Spring."
