Join us as award-winning Indiana author Ray Boomhower, senior editor at the Indiana Historical Society Press, reflects on the pivotal night of April 4, 1968. U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, campaigning for the Indiana Democratic primary, learned that civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. had been shot in Memphis and later died. Despite safety warnings from police, Kennedy chose to proceed with an outdoor rally in Indianapolis. Boomhower discusses this historic event and Kennedy’s iconic speech, widely regarded as one of the greatest in American political history.
