JOIN US for a fascinating multimedia presentation by Presidential and Congressional award winning historian and public speaker Joyce Haworth
The Civil War was over, the Confederacy surrendered, and America was at last free of slavery. But Andrew Johnson, Lincoln’s former Vice President, opposed the idea rights for the formerly enslaved. Congress dug in for a battle, the Confederate states instituted a “second slavery,” and northern Americans had to decide what the war had been all about. Historian Joyce Haworth will tell the tale of a lock-in, a showdown, and the first impeachment of a president.
