The history of gold in Chicagoland

Golf is a beautiful, challenging game of traditions, memories and stories. In Chicago, golf has a long history, beginning in 1892 with America’s first 18-hole course – the Chicago Golf Club; the first nationally televised golf tournament at Tam O’Shanter Golf Course in 1953; the Western Golf Association (WGA); and more than 600 courses in Illinois today. Explore the history of golf, including the players, courses and events that have impacted the sport.
