Franciscan Ministries, sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago, today announced it has acquired Mercy Creek, a senior living community in Normal, IL, previously owned and operated by Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community. Built in 2012, the community has 60 spacious one- and two- bedroom assisted living apartment homes and four independent living villas.
“We are excited to add Mercy Creek to our steadily growing family of Franciscan communities and look forward to working with the associates and residents in the next chapter of the Community’s history,” said President and CEO Judy Amiano. “For over 120 years, we have dedicated ourselves to creating premier senior living facilities in the Midwest. We look forward to continuing the ministry that was started by the community nearly six years ago.
Franciscan Ministries is working to create a smooth transition for the Mercy Creek associates and residents, while strengthening existing connections within the community-at-large. For branding purposes, Mercy Creek will be renamed “The Village at Mercy Creek” to better align with the current Franciscan Communities portfolio of senior living properties.
“Our rich history and Mennonite values have steadily guided our ministry at Meadows for the past 95 years,” said Mary Dyck, Meadows Board Chair. “After much research, prayerful consideration, and asking many, many tough questions, we are confident that Franciscan Ministries will carry the Meadows mission forward.”
